LOL Jan!! I just posted nearly the same thing! Her movement on the BOSU was impressive considering just doing it in a yoga sequence requires extreme balance!
Julia, that second video of you on the BOSU is friggin impressive!! My PT had me on one briefly after ruining my knee last summer and those things are difficult even with TWO feet. Also, as an avid yoga-doer, the movement you were practicing takes extreme balance even without the BOSU. Well done my lady!
I love this piece and I love your Age with Attitude Mindset Julia. I love the pay it forward thing. I don't go to the gym. I have a Peloton gym at home and I used to engage on Peloton FB to encourage others. I should get back to it.
But in the meantime, I'm gonna get myself one of those balls. .
Oh. Another reminder that I need to get back to the Y. I pay every month and haven’t been since August. Sigh. You are an inspiration! I’ve never been on a BOSU ball, but now I want to try. I also want strength and balance and the confidence that getting stronger provides. It’s why I signed up for the gym in the first place. Must. Go. Back. Thank you for sharing your videos!
I have decided I need a new gym since getting a new trainer at my current gym is problematic. My trainer is a very nice young man - 28 years old. In the 5 months I've been training with him, he has only reminded me to drop my shoulders, tuck in my tummy, or sit up straight a couple of times. He has never commented on my breathing or my counting or much of anything else. I try to do my workouts in the best of form but I haven't been doing this long enough to be sure I always know what that is. He doesn't have a plan for me and only seems interested in whether I feel like I'm meeting my weight loss goals. Well, I don't have any weight loss goals although weight loss would be great. He also doesn't seem to think that I need to work on flexibility or balance.
I bring all this up because I finally figured out if I want to work on the BOSU ball, I need to come in on my own and do it. Just like I need to be on my own to do deep assisted squats which really help my knee and ankle flexibility or to work on any of the plate machines or any of the free weights. He is willing if I demand to use these different machines but next time I have to demand again.
I am truly amazed at what a wonderful trainer I started out with. I didn't realize at the time that she was perfect for me. She created a very high standard that I'm trying to find again.
Been a few decades but I remember the challenge especially soft side down, hang for dear life on the wall. Fav when we got to half sit on it for cruches or muster some hip raises. Balance is key and you appear to have a hold of it! Yeahrah! Miss all that good fun.
Excellent balance on the BOSU ball, Julia! I like how you took the challenge after watching a ballerina balance on a BOSU. Do you have the name of that dancer? (I asked because I'm a balletomane and used to live and breathe and practice ballet). Great that you shared what you know with that lady who wanted to learn too! Reading your article, I feel that I might have let a lot of my knowledge of nutrition and fitness go to waste by not sharing it. When I am more centered and recovered from my most recent emotional shakeup, I will have more energy to organize things and consider finding a way to share what can potentially benefit a lot of people. (I once helped a client heal completely from an injury of her arm which she wasn't able to heal through PT. I'm quite proud of that accomplishment!)
Thanks for asking, Louisa. This is a grown young woman who clearly studied but I seriously doubt she dances professionally. No idea of her name, we're on nodding terms. But yes, SHARE what you know. We never know whose life it might change.
Dang! Here I thought I was all that and a bag of chips for being able to do Warrior III — and here you are doing it on a BOSU ball! Now I want one.
The good ones are about $150. I just happened to have a friend who had one. You might look at Craig's list, too.
Good thought!

Ooo, I wanna try that ball thing now! Thanks for sharing.
I am impressed! Excellent Job on the BOSU.
Thank you Vanessa!

Thanks Robyn, they are a lovely challenge!

You are most welcome, Jennifer! The gym is a happy place when we make friends there, which is why I love the Y. Tell us when you head back!

This is an article, Penny. Stay tuned.

the soft side is brutal for balance, but it sure is good for squats. Ouch.

Thanks for reply, Julia, as well as your encouragement. I might rekindle my passion to teach once again....
We all have something to teach, Louisa, and inevitably it's what we most have to learn. What a great life lesson that is!
Indeed!
