Outstanding! I used a dating app for a brief while. One of the men said he was 5 ' 9 ". When we met for dinner, he was 5' 2" tall with 7 inches of highly pomaded hair piled up. He looked like a Shetland Pony. Another name popped up on the site: it was the depressed psychiatrist I'd just broken up with. Yet another man swore like he had Tourette Syndrome.
I'm still convulsing here, Judith. Christ. One guy showed up having claimed he was "athletic and toned." Said "athletic and toned" was about forty pounds of pure slop hanging over his belt. He said, with real surprise, YOU LOOK LIKE YOUR PICTURES. I said, "You don't." And left.
Ha ha! So true. I've had my small share of chuckles when I was active on the online dating scene 6-7 years ago... and have met quite a few who masked their actual age. The funniest one was a guy who claimed to be a comedian but came across to me as someone without an ouce of humor in his words and demeanor. For what it's worth, online dating can be a great sociological lab for human behavior.
BTW, I think this article is so amazing.... have you thought about submitting it to some national printed publications?

The stupid shit we do, right?
That's brilliant - athletic and toned from carrying around the 40 pounds of goo, right?
The stupid shite we do.
Sometimes I was just struck speechless. That's very hard for me, but it happened.
Goddamnit it's later and I am still laughing about the Shetland pony.
Chuckles all the way! Brilliant article!
Dating is a huge chuckle, Louisa! It never ceases to amuse.

Not yet. One that I wrote a while back is going into Third Act, a mag out of Seattle. I'll get there!
Great! I know you will get there! I'm rooting for you!
But first....the gym!
