Yes, indeed, time is the most precious thing we have and that we can give — along with our attention. It's no accident that in our newish "attention economy" we're encouraged to maximize our productivity by all means possible, which never ever involves just hanging out with people who are important to you or who might just need you. Cheers to this post. But -- um, IS there a sex toy that plays O Come All Ye Faithful??
That sadly, is a George Carlin line, which made me spew my coffee the first time I heard it. There's attribution at the bottom. It's from his Ten Commandments riff. "Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbors' Goods," To which he said it's just plain stupid, because that's what moves the economy. He has a point......and to your question:
Thank you for this reminder, especially around the holidays. When you think of the people you have lost, it makes you appreciate how swiftly time passes. Time with loved ones - who love you and yes, spend time with you, is so valuable.
Thanks so much. One of the great gifts of age is the perspective around the limited nature of the time we have left. It really does burn the point home.
“Then at Christmas- and both she and my erstwhile best friend did this- would regale me with stories about the friends that they had indeed found time to be with.
Yeah, well, OUCH.”
I’ve had “friends” do this to me too. It really lets you know where you stand, doesn’t it?
Julia, thank you for remembering where I'm at and what's taking priority right now. You're SOOOO correct about time. I am annoyed at the inconvenience of the timing of my mom’s injury, but she is 76 (correction to your 67). I fully recognize we don't have forever together.
This is a wonderful post with a worthwhile message.
I can understand. Honestly, Kristi. From where I grew up, the small town would have taken care of it. These days small towns somehow- at least in some country songs, think that it's perfectly all right. The way I see it, we have to stand up. Upset the hell out of me and I carried it for several days. Am still carrying it. Be well.

So yes, there is. Not on my Christmas list, though.
PS I saw and commented on your Medium piece. Very difficult, very brave, very honest, Jan.

They don't even notice they're doing it, nor how much it cuts, Tim.

PS: I am reading most of your posts lately but haven't taken the time to comment. A bit busy.
The one from yesterday about bullying really upset me.

Will correct, and thanks. I think about you more often than you might realize.
It’s time well spent as Julia said.
