This is for all the folks who leapt on board a recent article of mine and had so much to say about how I was an anti-man feminist
Dear Reader: the other day I wrote an article which garnered a fair bit of attention and heat. The comments made it clear that there is a considerable amount of confusion about certain terms. I hope to clear that up. I realize that there are plenty far more interested in being right that being educated, but that’s where are. And by the way, to all those who love to claim I hate men, I sure loved a hell of a lot of them over my lifetime. They pissed me off at times, but I never hated any of them then, or now. So kindly, go spit.
First, here’s the article that garnered so much attention:
Is This the Real Reason the Patriarchy Exists? Men May Have to Grow Up
Anyone else lining up to marry a man who can’t hold a broom?
The comments are something else again.
Let’s begin with this from Google’s AI:
Feminism is the belief in and pursuit of social, economic, and political equality (among) all genders, aiming to end sexism and oppression. It is not about female superiority, hating men, or a single uniform experience, but rather about ensuring that everyone, regardless of gender, has equal rights, opportunities, and respect. Key goals of feminism include increasing choices for all, eliminating gender discrimination and stereotypes, promoting safety, and ensuring fair treatment in areas like employment, education, and legal rights.
Um, okay. Where is the “let’s hate all the men” in that?
Um, okay. Where are all the reasons to hate women who might like to be treated with a modicum of fairness if they’re the primary breadwinner?
Oh wait, you didn’t know about the millions of women who are the primary breadwinners in America? Here:
In May 2025, the Center for American Progress reported that 45% of mothers in the U.S. are primary breadwinners, meaning they earn at least half of their family's total income, a significant increase from 11% in 1960. This trend of women as primary breadwinners is more common in families with children, where 40% of such households are headed by a mother earning at least half of the family's income.
Oh, wait. So you mean that feminism means that all those women are asking is to make enough money to pay all or most of the bills?
Especially for all those babies you are SO EAGER for them to bear, with zero government support?
Yup.
Where’s the hate in that?
Angry, uneducated and uninformed boys and girls gonna hate no matter what. However if you really understand what feminism is and does, then you might finally get why Marjorie Taylor Greene suddenly got a serious case of feminist religion when she realized that her party doesn’t give a flying shit about her, her career, ideas or much of anything else.
Sucks to have a vagina, Margie.
And by the way, that is precisely why feminism exists: to stop that shit so that you can have a real career, a real life, and get paid a fair wage for your work and um…have respect even if you don’t have a penis.
For those having difficulty with all this, especially you guys who LOVE to hate anything that sounds or smells like feminism, this, also from the Google AI search:
What Feminism Is NOT
Female Supremacy: It is not a belief in women being superior to men.
Anti-Male: It does not involve hating men or a desire to be a man.
Uniformity: It acknowledges and respects the diverse experiences and perspectives of different women and people of all genders
In other words, feminism supports guys’ desire to do what they want which includes being a stay-at home-dad, or taking non-traditional roles.
More from Google AI:
Feminism benefits men by freeing them from restrictive gender stereotypes, which allows for fuller emotional expression, more fulfilling relationships, and greater personal freedom in career and life choices. It encourages men to be more involved fathers, promotes better health and academic outcomes, and fosters a healthier society where everyone can experience their full humanity.
Boy that sounds pretty hateful to me. Right.
Man, I keep scraping the internet for proof that feminism is all about hate, and I ain’t finding it in the literature. Podcasts from hateful, uneducated, fearful folks, sure, and that goes for both sides.
But the facts don’t add up. Feminism doesn’t foment hate. Hateful folks twist feminism into something it isn’t.
As
wrote recently, the Democrats have less to fear from the Republicans than they do from the extreme far left. Republicans have far more to fear from their own extreme far right. This is true on any issue including this one. Extreme views aren’t informed ones. And for those who love to claim that patriarchy doesn’t exist?
Ask fish about water. They’ll look at you like you’re nuts.
“If you want to know what water is like, don't ask the fish” is a Chinese proverb. A fish doesn’t even know that water exists because there’s no other context for it to compare to.
You’re living in the patriarchy; it’s so all pervasive you don’t even know it exists, like water for fish. A human who lives, breathes and perpetuates patriarchy will deny its existence. To call it out would be to admit they’ve been hoodwinked.
That said, those who benefit from its privileges will do anything to perpetuate the system. Hence, Project 2025.
Derived from the Greek word patriarkhēs, patriarchy literally means "the rule of the father" and is used to refer to a social system where men control a disproportionately large share of social, economic, political and religious power, and inheritance usually passes down the male line.
Defining patriarchy, renowned American sociologist Allan Johnson wrote: "Patriarchy does not refer to any man or collection of men, but to a kind of society in which men and women participate ... A society is patriarchal to the degree that it promotes male privilege by being male-dominated, male-identified, and male-centered. It is also organized around an obsession with control and involves as one of its key aspects the oppression of women."Derived from the Greek word patriarkhēs, patriarchy literally means "the rule of the father" and is used to refer to a social system where men control a disproportionately large share of social, economic, political and religious power, and inheritance usually passes down the male line.
The patriarchy robs all of us of the immense talents of women, disabled, people of color, EVERYONE but men. That is a massive loss to every single human being on earth when the patriarchy rules, and it does in most places.
YES it exists. And NO it isn’t fair, not at all, but those invested in it are going to fight to the death to perpetuate it. Exhibit one: again, the current administration.
All those folks utterly terrified of the notion that women, Black folks, Asian folks, Brown folks, Red folks, LGBTQ and transgender and all the rest could possibly be not only AS good as men, White men, but even vastly better. As we get regular proof of daily, as it were. But I digress.
Now you may have every belief that what the Looney Tunes squishpants in the White House is doing is right. That’s what I fought for when I took the military oath: your right to vote how you like even when said vote ruins the world for your kid.
Please see this classic tale. That Trump voter is mad now because his daughter’s business is crushed. Feminism made it possible for her to HAVE a business. This administration wants her on her back making babies, not running a firm. That’s patriarchy.
Feminism paved the way for that man’s girl child to go to college, start a business, have a line of credit and make a living. Patriarchy wants to roll all that back.
So while it’s cheap and easy to make lots of patently false claims about feminism, to hurl hate at one another ( and that goes for all of us, no matter what side we’re on), to deny the existence of patriarchy, do the reading. Read the research.
I am no more a fan of those women who despise all men than I am a fan of men who hate all women. Both are dead wrong. Hate kills everything good in the world.
Feminism isn’t about hate, it’s about healing the rifts that patriarchal systems create, and all the gifts that are stolen from society under that system.
Everyone benefits from feminism, in its best and finest form, just like EVERYONE benefits from DEI, despite the idiot claims to the contrary.
Feminism supports a woman’s right to be a trad wife. That trad wife does not have the right to force her way of life onto the rest of us. Feminism supported my right to join the Army and to choose not to have kids. I do not have the right to force my ideals onto anyone else.
There’s no hate in that. That’s simply acknowledging that each life has an arc and that there is no perfect way for all of us. Neither of those choices is wrong. They are simply different.
Feminism argues that each of us has the right to express our gifts regardless of gender or color. That means men benefit, too.
Kindly, where’s the hate in that?
You can twist things any way you like. You can make any idiot argument you like in the desperate need to be right about your POV. However, if changing your POV could potentially benefit you, your kids and everyone else, is it not worth considering doing some basic research?
Just asking.
The loudest angry voices on my article are those who clearly hadn’t done a whit of research.
You’re welcome to stay mad and call me a man hater. All of my male friends, and I have more male friends than I do female, would laugh you out of the room if you called me a man-hater in front of them. They are fearless alpha males, every single one. The difference is that they love women, and in loving women, they want their wives and daughters to realize all their dreams.
That’s being a feminist. And it’s why the patriarchy needs to be dismantled.
Let’s all be able to play equally.
Thanks to my subscribers and my readers. Thanks also to the haters, the pseudo-Christians who hid behind the Bible and wrote vicious comments, the trolls and the folks who simply needed to let off steam. All of you matter and you all serve a purpose. I hope you find your way.
This is not my typical material. Just had to get this done so that I can back to my regular programming.

JULIA HUBBEL
Many-Many years ago I had the pleasure of cooking dinner for the President of Chicago chapter of NOW and her guests who included Betty, Bella and Gloria, see, I was the token male. We talked until 3:00 A.M., mostly about 'The Movement'.
Betty had held that marriage was a Comfortable Concentration Camp even though she was married - Gloria lamented the way she was treated in the month she was a Playboy Bunny and Bella - WOW a powerhouse with words and a hat that would not quit.
My relationship with all lasted years and those friendships were strong bonded. What impressed most was NOT that the current crop of men had to change - all agreed that it was an impossible task, the goal became to raise children GIRLS & BOYS with different attitudes and expectations.
Your friend can't handle a broom or pick up after his dog? Bring the fight to the generation who raised him!
Our three children: The oldest (woman) retired from the Food Service Industry, the second (man)is in Forestry and the youngest (woman) is a PhD who teaches college. We raised loving, honest caring children to be loving, honest, caring and productive adults. Our best friends are in long term marriages - we lead as we are in the 5th decade of ours. And rest assured we do not believe that Feminists hate men. My great aunt was in the first wave of feminism, my sister in the second and one of my daughters (the doctor) in the third.
Parents not patriarchy are responsible for the ills of the world, lay the blame at the feet of those responsible.
One more thing - it can't be stressed enough that the important part of AI is ARTIFICIAL and in the seeking truth it must not be taken seriously!
Well-done, Julia. I left social media because of the keyboard warriors who pounded out irrational and ignorant messages.
All women and men must stand up and stand for feminism values as it represents freedom and choice for everyone.
