Julia, I appreciate reading your life experiences and how you overcame all of the tremendous challenges and difficulties. Thanks for the wisdom of how to walk through life and for inspiring me to face my own challenges with courage. I will save this and come back to read it every time life brings me on my knees and I need some encouragement.
Thanks so much, Lily. As I wrap up my time in this part of Canada I give thanks that I am upright and above all still moving well we enough to explore and be in life. I choose to focus on what works, while acknowledging what didn't. Hugs to you and your new freedoms!
I appreciate you! Your penchant for slogging through the bad to find the good is inspiring. Your writing (and experiences) inspired me to conquer the Tour du Mont Blanc this summer at 62. You have empowered me to continue training to become stronger and healthier as I age, and to recognize that not only am I worth it, I deserve to live a full adventurous life. My next dream is to summit Kilimanjaro in the year I turn 65 (2+ years from now) thank you for sharing so much of yourself!
Debra, you flatter me and thanks. Here's to our goddess years!
If you decide to to Kili, let me know. I strongly recommend Peak Planet, run by a friend. I know their guides and they are a member of the Kilimanjaro Porter's Assistance Project, which protects porters' rights. Write about your adventures!!
That's most kind of you Kaarin. Grit is relative to each of us- so is resilience. It depends so much on who we are and our circumstances. What I cannot stand, someone else can, and vice versa.
With all love and admiration, I confess that reading about all you have endured and overcome aaalllllmost tempts me to stay on my nice, safe couch. Except I'm too old and wise to know that the couch is where I'm safe. You deserve ALL the Snickers (that you can enjoy without making anything go sideways).
No Snickers for me, Jan. But I can have apples (without the caramel, sadly). What I deserve is enough time to kick a few more bucket list items off my lengthy list!

I'd love to quote you. Let me know!
Hi Debra -- I hike the TMB this summer, too! Wasn't it fantastic? I share your dream to summit Kilimanjaro. You may be interested in the piece I wrote about the TMB. https://alifeunpacked.substack.com/p/lost-on-the-tour-du-mont-blanc
I was drawn into your stories and so appreciate your willingness to share so much. You are an inspiration. Thank you!
Thank you so much Tracy!
Wow. I thought I had grit...no way. You've got it in spades, and are such an inspiration. Thank you.

Then you shall have it (when I'm running the universe)! >3
Damn, you have quite a story! I’m awed by your strength.
Thank you Sheila. I am awed by the strength of mothers.
